‘The wings of transformation are born of patience and struggle’
Janet S. Dickens
Going into my second year of photography I really started to focus on my branding, what was I was trying to achieve, who am I trying to appeal to and how can I remain my imaginative self all the while showing this is what I born to create? I knew I loved storytelling, I knew I wanted to appeal to people with a more creative approach to their photography but I had absolutely no clue as to what I wanted as a logo. I am so creative, I like to be different but not so wild that people just do not get it, this was going to be a challenge…or so I thought.
I did some research and was recommended to the lovely Steve Kenyon at Aesthetip and hoped he had the patience of a saint with my crazy busy brain! I was pleasantly surprised on how well we connected and from the first message I knew he was interested in what I had to say not just what he thought. He explained to me that to start with he needed to know what visually I was drawn to no matter how abstract it was which was easy enough as I practically threw my Pinterest at him! With nearly 5000 pins (yes I have a problem!) this is the place where I plonk most of my crazy ideas, textures, photograpy, diy projects and some boards that I will never look at again! But for Steve seeing all of this made the start of creating my visual branding and logo that much more personal.
After various emails, ideas, thoughts and concepts we developed a personal logo including my favourite colours, lilac and galaxy mix! So cool! We discussed different shapes but it just always came back to the butterfly; an insect that I have adored since I was a little girl which my mother would tell you at one point if something did not have a butterfly on it, I did not want it! The design of the butterfly was completely Steve’s idea, I had discussed a different version but for me it was not working and I am glad he took the time to create something different but familiar using my little childhood creature.
This butterfly to me represents the changes that I have gone through in my life, the transformation into a successful business woman doing something that I love unconditionally, the strength it has taken me to get to where I want to be and the beauty of what is yet to come.
So here it is, my beautiful logo! Thank you Steve for your patience and your talent, I am truly grateful to have found you and that you understood what I was looking for. I am so happy with my little butterfly, I shall call her ‘Immy’.
If you are looking for a logo or re-branding please head over to Steve’s page on Facebook and send him a message, you will not regret it!
